Cardinia Community Kitchen

The Cardinia Food Movement is excited to support this wonderful initiative for Cardinia Shire resident's to benefit from the warm welcome of our CWA local branches and enjoy local food in new family friendly ways.

The Cardinia Community Kitchen initiative aims to support our local communities to improve their health and wellbeing through accessible workshops that enhance food knowledge, revive lost skills, teach kitchen fundamentals and foster connection between local food and farmers. As part of the Ripe for Change place-based program delivered by Sustainable Table , this grant supports this initiative with the aim to improve our local food system and deliver health and sustainability outcomes for the population and environment.

The Cardinia Community Kitchen program will consist of monthly cooking demonstrations held at various locations across Cardinia Shire and hosted by local branches of The Country Women's Association of Victoria.

1.       CWA Koo Wee Rup

2.       CWA Officer Owls

3.       CWA Pakenham

4.       CWA Woorinyan (Upper Beaconsfield)

The cooking demonstrations will focus on:

  • Healthy cooking with seasonal and local produce using basic recipes

  • Where to source local ingredients

  • Tips and tricks on how to use the whole ingredient.

Attendees at these demonstrations will gain knowledge on how to

  • Maximise nutrition

  • Minimise waste

  • Save time and money

There will be an opportunity at each demonstration to chat to a nutritionist, meet local farmers, network with neighbours, and share favourite recipes.

The cookery demonstrations from September 2019 to June 2020 are free to attend and registration is required. Visit our event calendar for dates and information for each session.
